Xperia Play 4.0.A.2.368 Update

The official update info says it adds:

  • xLOUD™ – boosts your music when played through the speaker
  • Stereo recording – shoot video with high-quality stereo sound
  • Digital home – enjoy entertainment content stored in your phone on DLNA certified media devices
  • New themes and Landscape mode for your home screen
Users also noticed a few other things:

In the "Call Log" screen, previously called contacts now have an Icon next to them that you can just tap to call again.

An animation has been added that makes your phone look like an old TV set powering down when you turn off the screen (where it shrinks towards the middle from the top and bottom.)

If you've linked your phone contacts to your phone contatcs, before their pictures would be stretched and pixleated across the whole screen when you called/they called you, this has been changed to a small picture in the middle of the screen.

The "End Call" button is now a bar that stretches accross the whole of the bottom of the screen in a call.

Addition of a dedicated Weather Widget.

The responsiveness of the touch screen SEEMS to have been improved from what I can tell. Don't know if this is actually the case though.

One of the "Management" widgets has been removed (The one thats a long bar that has options for Brighness/Volume/WiFi/GPS/Bluetooth.) But there's still the 3x2 "Status Switch" widget and the individual management icons so I suppose this isn't really a big deal.

There seems to be quite a large gap between the home screen bar at the bottom and your home screen icons/widgets now. Almost looks big enough to add another row of icons there. Don't know if this has always been there of if I'm only just noticing it but I'd guess it makes sliding between screens eaiser without the risk of accidently opening an app if it is new.

Pattern Unlock Screen seems to be bigger.

New TimeScape Widget. Only takes up 3x3 squares now instead of 3x4.

Favorites and Call Log widget added.

Friends Music and Video Widget added.

Message speech bubbles are now change colour based on your Theme.

Email app has been updated. As well as in Landscape mode, the preview box can now be dragged down from the top in Portrait mode, and the email app icon now displays a number telling you how many messages are in your inbox.

Ok now for the bad stuff...

Add a bunch of apps, most of which you can't uninstall. Now some of these are actually quite useful. Others, not so much. Here's the List:

Neo-Reader - Barcode Scanner. Nice UI and works really well, even explains what the different types of Bar Code are that it can scan when you start it up. You can't uninstall the app.

Data Monitor - Sony has decided otherwise though and seen fit to force it upon you. Also comes with a Widget. Useful app if your on a tight data plan and want to see what's hogging all your MB's but personally, I have little use for it. Can't uninstall.

Music Unlimited - Sony's revamped Quriocity service...You Can uninstall the app.

Video Unlimited - Sony's revamped entertaiment services. You can't uninstall this app strangely.

Update Center - Just takes you to the Update screen without going through the settings menu. (Update screen also has a nice little picture with it now) Can't uninstall.

Extension Search - Basically an app that takes you to the Market and searches for TimeScape Extensions. Useful if you use Timescape. Can't uninstall.

Connected Devices - Allows you to connect and sync between your PS3 and Bravia TV to stream media. Can't uninstall.

Fun & Downloads Get Games - Looks like a slightly improved "Play Now" store. Can't uninstall.

UEFA.com -
Football app. Can uninstall.

Xperia HotShots
Can uninstall.

Well that's it. Feel free to add anything else
